Some of you may not have even heard of this game, and that's good, but for those of you who do...you know it's going to be painful.
A prince is about to become king when an evil Rubas decides to take over the world with evil bells placed in deadly towers...eh...maybe that's not a bad concept but hey...I'm ranting on it...so you already know there is no hope.
This game has alot of problems, and I mean alot.

The biggest problem might be that your character is too weak, and I mean weak...For one thing he can't take very many hits, see that 100/100 up there? That's his life bar, he has 100 out of 100 hit points, but he can only take like 3 hits before he dies...yeah...that's pretty darn weak. Compared to your enemies...they're like gods and your like an ant...it takes maybe 20 hits to kill a minion or a bubble or something...but your attacks aren't going to help much, you know how in Zelda you can fire off a sword when you have full life? Well this guys attack is firing swords...and while that seems cool...it's a problem, and the reason is when you fire a sword you can only fire one....and your sword is extremley slow...about as half as slow as Link's sword...and the fact that-that is your only attack! You can't stab enemies...meaning if you shoot your sword and miss you have to wait nearly 3 seconds for the sword to fly off the screen to fire another one...what a bunch of manure...3 seconds? There's no time man! The best way to kill monsters is to get right next to them and fire away because when they get hit the sword goes away...so you can fire 20 swords in a second if your right next to something...I dunno I always found the projectile weapon limit rule stupid
Zelda---1 sword at a time
Mario---2 fire balls at a time
Megaman---3 shots at a time
Deadly Towers---1 dagger at a time
and if you get right next to the end of the screen you could fire all day repeatedly...whatever.
The game's color is kinda dull...all the color for the background are the same shades of the same colors...like one stage is light green, dark green, or just green, another maybe just blue, light blue, and dark blue...where's the variety? Where's the tan road with the brown cliffs and the grey castle walls? Why does every screen have to have the same color?

Another thing is the areas in this game...there's no way to know where the towers are...one minute you could be walking along and all the sudden the screen fades...and then........your there! There was no door...no staircase...nothing...you just walk around in hope that you'll hit something, also the rooms, secret areas, and parralles zones to buy items and find power-ups are the same way

You can't know where to go...you just have to acciddently find it....Why the Crap would you waste time feeling around the wall......Have they never heard of a DOOR?!
The power ups don't help that much...for one thing you can't find them, and for the other they don't help jack because the game is still hard with or without these power-ups.
And this can't be forgiven...we know that in the first Zelda game the last dungeon was pretty complicated right? It looked like this:

Each of those squares represents one of the rooms in dungeon 9 of Zelda...remember that? Yeah that was pretty complicated to get through wasn't it?..........Compare that to just one of Deadly Tower's maps...and note each square is indeed one room:
.........................................................
HOLY FISH PASTE!
And this is just ONE of the common dungeons....Oh and in Zelda you have maps to help you right?....In Deadly Towers....
There are no maps
....EVER.
Dungeon 9 in Zelda has 57 rooms........
This dungeon in Deady Towers has over 200 rooms....That's just sick in my book.
Even with this map handy you'll probably get lost...I mean how do you keep track of what room your in? You'll get confused eventually. In the dungeons are parallel zones that you'll find that are parallel to the dungeon your in...How the mess can you not get lost in this place?! It reminds me of when I first played Super Metroid in a very dark room...

"Hello?...Anyone?............Hello?"
Super Metroid and Deadly Towers are two games you cannot beat without a guide....and getting lost in a dungeon filled with monsters...ewww....
Gives me nightmares.
So your weak, you can't find the dungeons with no doors...and after you find them you'll probably never get out of the 200 rooms...for nearly each dungeon...this is sick.
Yes this is one of those games that ranks in the impossible level, right up there with Battle Toads, Adventure of Link, Punch-out, Silver Surfer, Fester's Quest, and Ghost and Goblins...and we'll get to some of those games don't you worry.
I don't think I can continue the rant because just seeing that hand made drawing of the dungeon...I'm getting stomach cramps. |
