Zelda Linked Green, Let's take the legend one step further

Questions about this site eh? Well I'll answer as best I can.

Q: Why is the site called "Linked Green"?

A: Excellent question, this site took shape for it's uniqueness in that I only use animation for the site, apart of that I decide to spilt my site into two halves, SpikerMan and Zelda. My SpikerMan site had turned into a blue color so I decided to use green for this Zelda site, and since it was linked to my SpikerMan site......Linked Green was created.....It's also catchy.

Q: How come you do not have information on Zelda in general?

A: I use to do that.....But I noticed that every Zelda fan site I visited just had information on Zelda......And that's not bad......However.....Since every other site does that.......It doesn't mean this one has to...and also I don't wanna do it. If this is the first time you've ever heard of Zelda I suggest you do not watch the episodes before you read information or play the games:"Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask" If you want the episodes to make sense you need to at least know what happened in those games since this series follows after them.

Q: What is SpikerMan anyway?

A: SpikerMan is my made up superhero.........And don't laugh because you had a made up superhero when you were young too.....I was able to bring mine to a more serious level and some what to life through animation.

Q: Why did you make this series? What inspired you?

A: I first started it with episode 1.....heh....and I actually intended for that to be it. No more episodes......just one.......however my friends asked me what happens next........I was like...."uh well.....That's it." They wanted me to continue it....So I decided....Why not?....I got alot of free time on my hands....As you already knew that. Plus there was something else that inspired me. At History of Hyrule.com the web mistress Melora had her work stolen. She translated Zelda Manga on her site. That was a big deal and I started to work on this.

Q: Why is the series made up? Why didn't you just do a remake of Ocarina of Time?

A: Well......That would have been nice......But I needed something else....Something new that no one ever has seen before....So that's why. I may do a remake of Ocarina of Time but that'll be a long ways away if I do.

Q: Did you make the series all by yourself?

A: Every bit, save for sound effects, music and sprite backgrounds. In the final result I make the characters move from their eyes shifting, mouth moving, sword clanging, you name it. I'm a one man army.

Q: Do you or did you work on other cartoons besides this one?

A: Most definitely, I first worked on the SpikerMan series and I still have some of the first material I ever worked on, the rest were destroyed with reformats of my computer. As some of you saw there was a third site, the MegaMan Zero site, and I had worked on some of the characters from the MegaMan Zero series, however there are no episodes of it yet.

Q: Will you make a cartoon for me? Please?

A:........Ah...........I have to answer in a very polite no......Sorry...I have a life you know, and it probably wouldn't be too satisfying for you.

Q: How long does it take to make an episode, how long does it take to release them and why does it take so long to get them on the website?

A:Well, that's a hard question. It usually takes me two to three days to complete one episode, some episodes are easier to make than other, for example Episode 30 took more than a week of work. With releasing the episodes, I follow a 5 episode format, I release 5 at a time then I wait a while, like a month and then release a new season. Some people ask me why I don't release an episode the moment after I make it? Simply because if I give you new episodes it takes me longer to release the next 5. Bandwith is also an issue, if I released them one after another at the same time no one would want to host me, it's just too much for anyone to take.

Q: Why are your episodes so short....I mean why do they only last 5 to 10 minutes?

A: The program I use to create the episodes is called Flash, but it has it's limits......It can only hold 16,000 frames of a movie.....Every second is about...Ten-Eleven to Twelve frames....And most the movies I make are around 11,000 frames.....So if you do the math....and even if I wanted to....Flash won't allow me to make a 30 minute episode like you see on T. V.......And the longer it is the bigger it is....the slower it is to load....And honestly I don't see the point of making the episodes longer than they are.

Q: Is what you do legal?

A: That needs to be answered. I think some people think that it's illegal for me to make a cartoon about Zelda or whatever it contains......But......It's not.

If making a fan website that has a fan cartoon about Zelda is illegal then all Zelda fan websites, comics, fanfictions, ect. should be illegal.

It is true that the music and sound effects I use for the movies are not mine, but I never said they were, I borrowed them. I do not claim property of the music or sounds or some of the backdrops that I use...Also keep in mind that......Zelda's not mine either........So the only way I could make the movies illegal is if I were to sale them on VHS or DVD......Now THAT would be illegal because I would have to make a copyright violation. But to be blunt....They are fan films....fan films are not illegal. I do want to point out that the organizing of it is mine.....The website is mine.....The story of the episodes is mine. But Zelda is property of Nintendo. All I did was take Zelda, a really wonderful game franchise, some good music and sound effects, an animation program, and I put it all together. I do not claim ownership of Zelda or the music or sound effects.....But I claim ownership of this website and the animation, and characters such as Coolo and Marina. Other characters such as Link, Zelda and Ganondorf are not mine, others were inspiration from different games. So I hope that you understand that the Linked Green series is for entertainment, not for making money...........Because I don't make money with it.

Q: Your site design is kinda............Basic......Why is that?

A: What can I say? This site is unique. Also I am a good designer.....You know why? Because simpler is always better. I don't like to spend time on how or where things should go or find that it was not a good idea or approach; when someone could be working on that for days....I would already have the site finished.....I mean just because the design is basic doesn't mean it's a good site right? And nothing is too hard to find here I wouldn't say, right? Everything you need is on the left frame, and every page appears in the middle frame.

Q: Some of the episodes have offended me or scared me...

A: I would say that some of the episodes should have a PG-13 rating....Some differ on what they have in them. However I do give warnings before each episode and even in the episodes themselves....If anything has offended or scared you.....I apologize.

Q: Why don't you use Flash to make games?

A: There's a very good explanation for that: I don't know how. Beleive me I've tried to make games with Flash......They don't work........At all.

Q: I have Flash.....Do you have any tips on how to work the program?

A: You must practice, and you must be dedicated to learning how to use and work with the program. Above all......You must be patient, without that it will be a struggle to use.

I am self taught, if your curious.....I learned by randomly experimenting and going through the tutorial. As for my drawing skills, that's a bit different. I bought a few detailed books on how to draw and the basics of details to the face, eyes, mouth, hair, ect. My skills developed over the years....Because I kept drawing and I kept learning and experimenting.....And believe it or not I'm still learning, I learn new things about Flash everyday just about.

Q: Sometimes the sound timing is off....the sound doesn't exactly match the video......Why is that?

A: Flash is the program I use.....But it's not perfect, in editing mode I position the sound effect to match where it should......But when I test the video the sound is delayed around 6 to 9 frames.....So I have to move every sound effect back 6 to 9 frames to get it right....So....It's not as easy as I make it look.

Q: I've been working with Flash for a long time......But my creations aren't real good....Why?

A: This doesn't happen over night.........I've been working with Flash for years.....YEARS You have to practice and you have to want to work for it. I don't really call my work masterpieces or anything.....I really don't think they're that good, but no one's made a Zelda fan series with more than 40 something episodes.........I think one thing that helps me is to experiment with how some of Flash works.

Q: How many people work on this series? Who does all the editing and organization and planning?

A: Me.....I do.........And by I........I mean........one person....No-one else does all the work I do for this series......Suprized?

Q: How did you come up with the story?

A: Like most the stories I work on: I made it up as I went along. But while working on other episodes I came up with ideas that I wanted to do for the future episodes.

Q: Do you think you will do a fan series on Twilight Princess?

A: If I do it will be......Years away. I wasn't planning on it...But if I have the time, why not?

Q: Aren't you suppose to have a legal page or something?

A:...Well yeah, but I have little words at the bottom of every page, but I'll do that now:
